About GamesIDB

GamesIDB is two things in one place: a wire that collects what the games press is reporting right now, and a database of the games themselves — score, price, release date, platforms — that refreshes itself from the storefronts several times a day.

Where the headlines come from

The wire reads the public RSS feeds of 12 outlets: Eurogamer, PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, GameSpot, Polygon, Game Developer, Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox, VG247, IGN, GamingBolt. We show the headline, the outlet and the time, and every item links straight to the original. The reporting belongs to the publication that did it; the link is the credit and the traffic goes back to them. We do not republish their article text.

Where the game data comes from

Release dates, prices, genres, platforms, cover art and screenshots come from the public Steam storefront API. Critic scores shown as a number are Metacritic’s, carried through Steam and labelled as theirs — they are not our review. When we score a game ourselves it says Our score and it sits on one of our own reviews.

What we write

Anything under News or Reviews is written for this site. Where a piece was reported from someone else’s story, that story is listed and linked at the bottom of the article.
