In Fortuna's Ledger, luck is not random noise. It is a currency, and every point of it is yours to spend or to earn. The Ledger Good fortune is bought; misfortune pays you back. Spend luck to land the critical hit or turn aside a blow, and earn it by accepting the graze, the dud, the lesser prize. Your balance is a single conserved number — borrow too deep and, at the foot of every staircase, the Audit convenes: interest is charged, and the Auditor seizes your outcomes until the books are settled.
